| The
American Revolution forever changed the continent and continues to influence the
direction of governments around the world. On Thursday,
December 18th, 2008 at 1:00 pm a slideshow on Art of the Revolution
will be presented at the Senior Center. This slideshow will examine three schools
of art that contemporaneously reported the Revolution - academic artists, commercial
artists, and folk artists. We will also briefly view some famous later works that
attempted to recapture the turmoil.
The program will run about one hour
and afterwards there will be refreshments, coffee, and informal discussions. The
speaker will be antiques writer Bob Jackman.
OPTIONAL: If
you have art with scenes related to the Revolution, Bob would be happy to comment
on them. Admission is free. While the talk will be organized around a sequence
of 80 slides, the atmosphere will be informal with questions and answers throughout
the presentation.
Expect to learn a bit, share some laughs, and have
a good time. |
